Terry Nelson has spent his life studying, playing, and performing music. Starting out singing with various Rock & Roll and Gospel groups at a young age, he branched off. With many different styles under his belt, he has preformed throughout America and Europe.
In January of 1993, he was featured as a vocal soloist along with such well-known artists as Carole King, Michael McDonald, and Bruce Hornsby. Terry was one of the lead vocalists at the Arkansas Presidential 52nd and 53rd Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C. with President and Mrs. Bill Clinton. He was also, a featured guest of Barbara Fairchild at the Jim Stafford, Charlie Pride, Will Rogers and Glen Campbell Theaters in Branson, Missouri. Bringing these accomplishments together to form, with his guitar experience, a soulful, melodic exchange creating a very eclectic sound unique and very much in tuned with the Casual Flyze repertoire.
Keyboards are Mike Townsend’s playground. Although, trained classically he often found himself at a young age creating musical score of his own instead of practicing something that some man in Europe had written a couple of centuries before the Beatles…Who cared about them, he though, “Lets get to the good stuff.”
The roots of the sound that forms this group are represented in such varying angles. Mike brings a twist of Jazz and chord progressions, which expand much, like his classical roots while entwined with the beat of the present. He has been involved with music either in performance or in studio work for many years. The electric keyboard has influence into the meld. You will be surprised how he turns the keys into a pedal steel guitar while playing the Doors.
David Briggs brings a “jazz-grass” influence to the “Flyze” with his mandolin and harmony vocals. Born and raised in the Delta region of East Arkansas, he was influenced by the “boiling pot” of music inherent to that area…Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Country, Bluegrass, and R & B. The percussive qualities of the mandolin are used to provide a backing rhythm for the “Flyze” and compliment the guitar and keyboards with its high melodic voice.
Now with the Casual Flyze these many styles can be incorporated for almost any occasion.
